International Writing Competition Term 3 2010

This very popular competition has already begun. All students enrolled at a NumberWorks'nWords centre can enter. The winners of each age category from each of the centres will go through to the international competition and have their writing published on the internet. See the competition web page for the details - use the link on our main page.  Our centre competition finishes on 13 August and winners will be announced on Wed 18 August.

Moby Dickens, the wonderful bookshop at Paraparaumu Beach, is sponsoring our first prize for each age category again this year.

Kapiti had an international winner last year - can we do it again?

NCEA Maths

We have had excellent feedback about how our programme helped students to perform so much better than they thought they would in their NCEA Level One Maths Exam last year.
We are working hard with our senior students and seeing some excellent study habits developing. Those students who started with us early in the year are finding the workload easier to handle. It's not too late - call SHEILS on 902 6655 if your child needs an extra boost in Yr 10 or Yr 11 Maths.

Sheils Carnihan

I began my career as an educator in the Wellington region more than 30 years ago and it's great to be back and settled on the coast. I have been a primary teacher, DP and principal in New Zealand and for two overseas postings.

Having been involved in both business (publishing, marketing and communication) and education over my career, I am thrilled to be able to combine my different skills and opened my own NumberWorks'nWords centre in Kapiti last year.

We have two adult daughters and Daniel and I are very proud grandparents to Ashton and Flynn. I spend as many 'grannie' hours playing and having fun as I can manage. It is truly a special time.

I love the enthusiasm and positive attitude for learning at NumberWorks'nWords and the fun atmosphere that makes this a special place for the students. Come and see for yourself.
