Damper Recipe

INGREDIENTS

2 cups of flour

1 pinch of salt

2 teaspoons of baking powder

50 grams of butter

Mix the dry ingredients together and rub in butter. Add water to make a sticky scone dough. Roll into big ball and liberally dust with flour. Put into plastic bag and take outside to the fire. When the fire burns down to hot embers (just after the flame stops), grab a piece of dough and wrap it around the end of a thick stick making a sausage shape out of it. Make sure it is a thin layer. Hold it above the fire and turn the stick around until it is golden brown. Put the damper into a jam jar while it is still on the stick and eat. When well cooked it will melt in your mouth and come off the stick easily. Enjoy.

NumberWorks'nWords Really Works!

Sam told me today he is doing really well in maths in his class at Fairfield Intermediate. He then said "NumberWorks really helped me". So I wanted to share that with you both. Coming to NumberWorks was a real turning point in Sam's motivation and now he is unstoppable! He wants to achieve and do well in everything; it is so great to see that. Thanks so much again for your help with both the boys.

More English Success

Our English programme has recently been upgraded to include components of grammar, punctuation, activities involving the different layers of English spelling such as latin root-words and enhanced writing programmes for the different genre children are learning at school. We are having fantastic results with articles, speeches and creative writing. Our new programmes are also compatible with the comprehension and language components for year 9/10 exams. Call Amy now to make an appointment to check it out for yourself and have your child assessed for free!- 8470082.

How does your child read?

Some children can read all the words, but have trouble working out the meaning. Others grasp the general meaning, without being able to read many of the words. As they progress through school, both these types of readers will experience frustration, particularly when they move from "learning to read" to "reading to learn". It is never too late to seek help, but sooner is better than later. Free assessments are available throughout the term, and during the holiday programmes. Call Amy on 8470082.

Supporting Schools through the PTA

I love education and I know that schools sometimes find it tough to provide everything for their students. Did you know that we support PTA findraising schemes? If your PTA is running a school fundraiser, please come and see Amy or Arthur and have a chat about how we can help you and your school.
