Back to School Refresher

We will be offering a Back to School Refresher during the month of August.It will be held from Sunday, August 16th until Thursday, August 27th. Both Math and English will be offered.

Term 1

Term 1 will run from Sunday, August 30th until Saturday, December 19th.Have a great summer!

Want to save your voice and your head from doing the thinking for your kids?

• Get a whiteboard and write up everyone’s daily tasks.
• Let each child check and monitor their own progress.
• Then you only have to remind them to look.
• A Friday night celebration dessert comes out when everyone has ticked all their boxes

Confidence Makes all the Difference

When children enjoy learning, they brim with confidence.

• The confidence needed to put their hand up when the teacher asks for an answer.
• The confidence needed to explain how they worked out their answer.
• The confidence to ask a question if they don't understand.
• Without confidence a child does not get the best out of their learning. They will be reluctant to ask questions because they are worried that they won't be able to understand the answers.
• In tests they will often leave questions unanswered rather than risk looking stupid.
• Children will develop coping strategies that can disguise their lack of confidence – both negative and positive.
• Giving a child more confidence makes a dramatic difference.

My name is Lisa Geddes and I was born and educated in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. I moved to Abu Dhabi in 2006 with my daughter Jillian, who is 14 years old.

Since the centre opened on October 5th, the response has been great! People are very excited that such a great program has come to Abu Dhabi.

I'm having so much fun working with the students!
